A railway line connects Trapani with Sicily's regional capital Palermo and other towns and cities. Bus services also operate between Trapani and Palermo, as well as providing links with nearby Erice, Agrigento and other towns. Erice can also be reached by cable car. From Trapani port ferries and failsafes leave for islands like the Egadi, the remote Pantelleria as well as Napoli, Cagliari (Sardinia) and Tunisia. For drivers, a motorway (autostrada n.29) links Trapani with Palermo.
